Attempting to discuss physical phenomena with Atheists leads to many issues which are based in ignorance of what science is capable of telling us, vs. what science is not capable of telling us.
The following video explains why science knows enough to know that it knows very little.
At a minimum, the idea that the existence within a singularity is physical, as defined by either physics, is wrong.
What I gleaned from the video is that both GE and QM are asymptotic in essence and even applying PDE's won't solve the problem... or did I miss the whole thing?
ReplyDeleteWOW, this is so weird. I watched part of this video yesterday night... I wanted to finish it today because it seemed interesting... will do...
ReplyDeleteThat's how I understand it.
ReplyDeleteWOW, again, but for bad reasons this time. This video is horrible!! They purposely cut pieces of interviews together to make it look like physics is in depression or something like that. The light used and the narrator contribute to make it sound dramatic. The worst though are these 3 things that I noted down:
ReplyDelete1) @8:35 : The failure of Quantum mechanics and General relativity at the center of a black hole means that the Theories are, at best, approximations of the laws of nature.
2) @9:55 : For nearly a hundred years, physics has been able to describe the universe around us. GR perfectly describes the movements of stars and galaxies; and the world of atoms is beautifully explained by QM. Yet the discovery of black holes means we don't fully understand anything.
3) Description reads: Physicists finally accept an ignominious defeat in their 500yr quest to understand God's creation.
THESE 3 things are pure lies!
1) ALL Theories are, at best, approximations of how nature works. They describe nature as much as we can. There is no need to assume that there are fixed laws under it all. There is no need to discredit the Theories because they fail in the extreme cases... that they predict themselves! Newton laws failed badly, really badly, when considered over the span of the universe. Yet, they were "bad" just enough so that we could still send people on the freaking moon...
2) GR perfectly describes the movements of stars and galaxies!? What a joke. Again, GR works now just as well as Newton's laws worked before. They are approximations. The best we can do...
3) COMPLETE non-sense by the uploader of the video. Nobody in the video comes close to even mention God's creation, and they certainly don't accept some sort of defeat. Physics is an exciting field with lots of research going on. Not having answers to all questions is what's driving science to move forward. "Defeat", if there were one, would be to not have anything else to look for, to have all the answers to the mechanics of the universe. We are not there for sure...
I prefer the conclusion from the physicist: "Quantum Gravity is the name we give to that solution. We don't know what Quantum Gravity is."
P.S. I much prefer a channel like this one:

I watched this earlier today for example:

CLEAR explanation regarding the certainty of measurements.
All the videos says is that physicists can't reconcile GR with QM. That we can't accurately and completely describe Black Holes. Hardly a revelation to anyone familiar with the state of physics..
ReplyDeleteHowever, I believe Hawking has had considerable success with Quantum Field Theory. I believe String Theory and Loop Quantum Gravity are both promising attempts to reconcile both theories. Of course they have their own experimental issues.
But, the video's title seems to suggest that a physicists ignorance somehow argues for the existence of a god?
But surely you wouldn't be making that argument Stan? That is a very basic fallacy, and you are so good at catching those.
