I don't: I think things are bad enough with only two Senators from California. Why give the new Union of Socialist States of California 10 additional Senators?!?
I'm thinking that the breakaways would not reflect the ideology of the dying host. Were that the case, then the extra senators would count against the Left. I don't know if that would be the case, though.
