Gun Free Zones. That's the hook.

When Trump sent DACA to Congress, he followed up with his four point proposal which allowed a path to citizenship for Dreamers, IF the other border leaks were sealed. For DACA, that is Congressional death; they cannot seal the borders and still be Democrats. So DACA is stalled, perhaps forever or at least for the rest of Trump's terms. Meantime, the courts will have to continue to stay Trump's reversal of Obama's illegal order which suspended a standing law. So a Supreme Court decision might well be in the offing, in which case, DACA dies.

Trump didn't kill DACA. He set it up with a hook, a condition which Democrats can't abide. So they can't approve DACA without taking the hook, and actually sealing the borders.

I wondered what the gun control hook might be, when Trump seemed to enthuse about everything the Donks proposed in the highly visible, televised White House meeting on guns. Today, it became clear: the hook will be the elimination of the Gun Free Zones, zones which the Donks love, and arming teachers and school staff. Donks absolutely cannot abide arming teachers and staff.

So the Donks will propose the elimination of virtually all weapons except revolvers and single-shot rifles. And the Donald will require the elimination of Free Fire Zones. And the whole subject will go away.

I think.

I hope.

Let's watch this while we join the NRA, or rejoin, as is my case.

Meantime, notice that the Left absolutely DOES want to disarm the nation. They are proving it. They have proposed the elimination of ALL semi-automatic firearms. That would include my shotgun, pistols, and rifles except for one bolt-action, which is kinda like a single-shot. Trump has gotten them to betray their lies, and placed an unswallowable nugget in their kibbles.

Bills aims to hold businesses banning guns responsible for customers

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — More and more businesses across the country are banning firearms on their property. Now, a proposed bill in the state Legislature aims to make those businesses responsible for the safety of customers who may be left vulnerable without access to their weapon.

Michael Sfakianos is a concealed weapons permit holder and values his right to carry his gun in public.

“If something were to happen, how long does it take for law enforcement to get there or someone else to help me out?” he asks. “I’m responsible for my own well-being, my own life.”

As a manager at Bill Jackson’s gun shop in Pinellas Park, Sfakianos and many of his customers stay up on both federal and state laws regulating firearms and now are reacting to Florida Senate Bill 610, which aims to make businesses banning guns solely responsible for the safety of customers, including concealed weapons permit holders who are not allowed to bring their guns inside.

“I have seen those posted signs and it annoys me a little bit," he says. "It’s almost like stating to everyone 'Here’s a gun free zone, if you want to do something this is the place to do it.’”

These places always disarm the law-abiding, but never check to see if someone is sneaking a weapon into the free-fire zone. It's their rule; they're responsible for the consequences.

Why Gun Control Can’t Be Solved in the USA

On average, Democrats (that’s my team*) use guns for shooting the innocent. We call that crime.

On average, Republicans use guns for sporting purposes and self-defense.

If you don’t believe me, you can check the statistics on the Internet that don’t exist. At least I couldn’t find any that looked credible.

But we do know that race and poverty are correlated. And we know that poverty and crime are correlated. And we know that race and political affiliation are correlated. Therefore, my team (Clinton) is more likely to use guns to shoot innocent people, whereas the other team (Trump) is more likely to use guns for sporting and defense.

That’s a gross generalization. Obviously. Your town might be totally different.

So it seems to me that gun control can’t be solved because Democrats are using guns to kill each other – and want it to stop – whereas Republicans are using guns to defend against Democrats. Psychologically, those are different risk profiles. And you can’t reconcile those interests, except on the margins. For example, both sides might agree that rocket launchers are a step too far. But Democrats are unlikely to talk Republicans out of gun ownership because it comes off as “Put down your gun so I can shoot you.”

Let’s all take a deep breath and shake off the mental discomfort I just induced in half of my readers. You can quibble with my unsupported assumptions about gun use, but keep in mind that my point is about psychology and about big group averages. If Republicans think they need guns to protect against Democrats, that’s their reality. And if Democrats believe guns make the world more dangerous for themselves, that is their reality. And they can both be right. Your risk profile is different from mine.

So let’s stop acting as if there is something like “common sense” gun control to be had if we all act reasonably. That’s not an option in this case because we all have different risk profiles when it comes to guns. My gun probably makes me safer, but perhaps yours makes you less safe. You can’t reconcile those interests.

Our situation in the United States is that people with different risk profiles are voting for their self-interests as they see it. There is no compromise to be had in this situation unless you brainwash one side or the other to see their self-interest differently. And I don’t see anyone with persuasion skills trying to do that on either side.

Fear always beats reason. So as long as Democrats are mostly using guns to shoot innocent people (intentionally or accidentally) and Republicans are mostly using guns for sport or self-defense, no compromise can be had.

I'm all for gun control in the form of complete confiscation from Democrats, Greens, Independents and unregistered (non)voters, journalists except bloggers, and all politicians, bureaucrats and their body guards; and all contributors to these sources of violence. Oh yeah: and confiscation from all Federal Employees, Bureaus and Agencies (eliminating their armies) except for the Armed Forces which must be armed at all times.

Now let's see if Google's robot extremist elimination program nukes me.

Remember when Obama lectured Kimberly Corban on firearm safety? Well, her story saved this woman’s life

In early January, CNN hosted a town hall on gun violence featuring Anderson Cooper and President Obama. One of the people to ask him a question was Kimberly Corban, a rape survivor who has since take up gun ownership to protect herself and her family. Corban’s question was blunt: “why can’t your administration see that these restrictions that you’re putting to make it harder for me to own a gun, or harder for me to take that where I need to be is actually just making my kids and I less safe?”

Obama commended Corban for overcoming a horrific event in her life, adding that his executive actions don’t make it harder for her to purchase firearms, and proceeded to mansplain to her how owning guns could lead to the owner becoming a fatality—an awful thing to say to a survivor of sexual assault, but that’s for another time. Flash-forward to the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting in May, Kristi McMains needed to meet Corban, as her story helped her save her life from a would-be robber that attempted to stab her.

Corban conducted an interview with McMains at the annual meeting in Louisville, Kentucky. McMains noted that she started to carry “diligently” after hearing Corban’s story. On January 26, she left her law firm on Fourth Street in Louisville and entered the food court. A man, who intended on robbing her, was following her. He was armed with a knife, and McMains knew something was off when both of them entered an elevator and he refused to say which level he wished to make his exit.

Luckily, McMains was armed. Her gun was in her purse, and she said she felt some divine intervention regarding her situation. She felt as if this man was going to kill her—and her instincts proved to be right. She was able to sprint to her car and put the key in the ignition, but was tackled by her assailant. McMains said she was “stabbed at” by the attacker and demanded to give him money.

During the struggle, McMains was able to kick the keys out of the ignition to prevent him from kidnapping her, and was able to reach for her firearm and defend herself; she was able to shoot her attacker twice before he ran off.

“If it weren’t for your story, I may not have been carrying—all the time. So, I did thank you and I wanted to thank you again because you did help save my life. And I have no doubt that I would not be alive if it weren’t for being able to carry a gun,” McMains said. “You can’t rely on other people to save your life when it comes down to it,” she added.

“That’s in your hands.”

Corban said that it’s been ten years since she was attacked, and said that McMains’ story is “the best thing that has happened in those ten years,” regarding what she was trying to do concerning raising awareness for Second Amendment rights and self-defense, especially for women.

“I released my name with the hope that I could save just one person, and if I could save one person it would be worth it” Corban said. “And to have you sitting here, breathing and speaking your story because that makes everything worthwhile.”

Corban closed by saying that having McMains “being here is worth more than anything that anyone can say opposing you taking protection seriously, and standing up for yourself, and now standing up for millions of people like us.”

Guns save lives. Period.

He warned people in his town to prepare themselves: "Be ready when the wolf comes to the door, because it's on its way."

The legal ban of Concealed Carry on state campuses is being tested in the Missouri legislature, too. Currently campuses are free-fire zones for criminals, who obviously don't respect laws.

Prohibitions on private ownership and carrying of guns is completely totalitarian in every sense; "they" will tell "you" whether you can defend yourself, or whether you must be a sitting duck in a government defined kill zone shooting gallery. It really is that simple.

One statistic I have never seen: the number of killings which are done in "gun free" zones, where by definition no one can defend himself. I suspect that Europe is one big "gun free" kill zone.

I have lapsed on my concealed carry. That's a mistake. I will correct it.
