How is the GOP becoming like the old Confederacy? For Matthews, the party is passing voting laws, and thus “grabbing every chance it can to keep minorities from the voting booth.” He lamented that Lincoln would be a RINO in today’s GOP.
"Wasn't it Abraham Lincoln who would run the risk of being called a Republican-In-Name-Only today, who won the Civil War so people, especially African-Americans, could be regular voting citizens? Or is this all in the past?” Matthews asked."

Nice Try. The Southern Strategy recording was an explanation of the Democrat evolution. It was being made by a Republican, Lee Atwater. That myth has long been busted, except by racist Democrats, who moved their racism from overt to covert. The real reason the South went Republican was economic; the South split into two parts: the middle class which voted its economic interests, and the core working class whites who remained Democrat, even in largely black areas.

Just another Leftist racism lie; Democrats have always kept, and still do keep, blacks in their Democrat plantation ghettos. Those who leave are Uncle Toms, and "not black enough".
Dems: racist to the core, yet dishonest enough to charge "racism" of everyone else.
