The Left doesn't want "just this one thing"; they have long term objectives for elimination of all morality regarding the value of humans. They have long used the Hegelian tactic of thesis/antithesis/synthesis, and then moving the antithesis further and further from the origin. They are doing it with Classism, all the while accusing the "thesis-ists" of being Classist themselves, a false projection to provide cover for their own Classism. Now that the antithesists are in full control of the California culture and legal/political system, they no longer need to pretend; they can extend the antithesis as far as they want because they now have no need to negotiate a synthesis, because the bulk of the opposition has left the state.
When one class of humans has no value, it is easy to extend devaluation to any other class of humans(elderly are next under ObamaCare). The obvious Classism of Leftists is one of the most dangerous facets of modern society. They can place anyone at any time into the Oppressor Class or the Valueless Class, the classes to be discriminated against at a minimum and eliminated if necessary (if the the Left are truly in control).
Abortion with varying purposes is definitely within reach. In fact, to restrict it would be declared unconstitutional under this dominant group.

The trouble with California is that the folks making up these nightmare laws think none of them will apply to the lawmaker.
Of course, that is a common Liberal fantasy. They so easily forget they are human too, and what is good for the goose will eventually be turned on the gander.
I am sure Trotsky was not at all surprised when they sent an assassin after him. But these Democrats? To them, history is indeed 'bunk'.
