Pelosi and De Facto Atheism

According to The Washington Times, the Catholic prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura has called out Nancy Pelosi on her internal contradictions of claiming to be a Catholic while also pimping abortion:

"House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has no Catholic right to be granted Communion, said the leading cardinal of the highest court at the Vatican.

Mrs. Pelosi should be denied Communion until she changes her advocacy views on abortion, Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke said, according to the Western Center for Journalism.

That’s canon law, not opinion, he said. Canon 915 states that Catholics who are stubbornly contrary “in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion.”

And Cardinal Burke said Mrs. Pelosi fits the definition.

“Certainly this is a case when Canon 915 must be applied,” he said, the Western Center for Journalism reported. “This is a person who obstinately, after repeated admonitions, persists in a grave sin — cooperating with the crime of procured abortion — and still professes to be a devout Catholic.”

The cardinal also said that Mrs. Pelosi is a perfect example of Catholics who separate their faith from day-to-day living.

“This is a prime example of what Blessed John Paul II referred to as the situation of Catholics who have divorced their faith from their public life and therefore are not serving their brothers and sisters in the way that they must — in safeguarding and promoting the life of the innocent and defenseless unborn, in safeguarding and promoting the integrity of marriage and the family,” he said.

The cardinal, an American, is the prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura in Rome, Life News reported.

I have wondered for years why the Catholic Church did not stand up for itself in this matter; now it has. So what about Joe Biden?

The reason the Catholic Church doesn't excommunicate these apostates is because the Vatican is more interested in retaining its influence than in adhering to the dogma they claim as sacred.

I think Martin Luther posted some debating points on a chapel door for just such hypocrisy, and we all know what happened to him. Is Nan buying indulgences? Could be.

Rikalonius, do you get off on making up your own "facts" to support your bias? Excommunication is a serious matter; so too is refusing to administer Communion. The Church has taken a firm stance against abortion and will not be budged on the matter. There's a difference between merely calling yourself a Catholic and practicing Catholicism. That Nancy Pelosi chooses to support abortion (i.e. the murder of the unborn) creates a serious conflict of interest between herself and the Church. Nobody can be both for Christ and against Him.

According to the news yesterday, the two popes are joining hands in attempting to appease Atheists. Or maybe it is to attract Atheists by pandering to them, who knows? It will be interesting to see.

Indulgences: Har! Maybe Nan didn't pay up on time...

Michael,
I think the actual topic is why did it take so long to stand up for their irrevocable moral principles? The same thing goes with Biden, who is still untouched. The church should have been all over them after the first time they supported the slaughter, but they let it for... probably decades. As if it were no big deal.

The Catholic Church would gain much more respect if it dealt straight ahead with these influential hypocrites, rather than letting then slide.

And why let them stay in the Church at all? both of them are incorrigible.

Stan, far as I'm aware, some clergymen did in fact denounce both for violating their beliefs. That said, I don't pretend to know why the Church waited before exercising its authority, at least against Pelosi. That being said, it has been stated time after time that those who hold such pro-choice positions ought abstain from receiving the Holy Sacraments.

This is a matter of inquiry which should be addressed to Church higher-ups. I'm sure that they have a reason.
