Head of BBC Arabic: 'DON'T call Charlie Hebdo killers 'terrorists'

"Tarik Kafala, head of BBC Arabic, said the term was too "loaded" to characterise the machine gun-toting militants, who stormed the Paris office of the satirical magazine on January 7.

Mr Kafala, who is in charge of the Corporation's largest non-English language service, told The Independent: "We try to avoid describing anyone as a terrorist or an act as being terrorist.

I agree: they should be called "Muslims". But I don't agree with the following:

"What we try to do is to say that ‘two men killed 12 people in an attack on the office of a satirical magazine’."

Because that is not the whole truth, is it? They were Muslims, on a Muslim mission a la those sanctioned by Muhammad himself. So they should be called:

MUSLIMS.

Because that's what they are.

The BBC Arabic attempt to cover for the Muslim aspect is abominable. Yet it firmly implicates Islam as being OK with terror, because it is merely synonymous with Islam itself - so why say it twice? In fact, to say that the Charlie Hebdo 12 was killed by "two men" automatically means "two Muslim Terrorist men", which is doubly redundant and immediately reducible to "two men". We know without being told that they are Muslims spreading Islamic terror. So, just say Muslims; two Muslims - that is sufficient. And accurate.
