Poll: Some Atheists DO believe in God.

A New Pew poll out today shows that Atheist belief really is "all over the place" as one Atheist has put it. It ranges far enough that it encompasses the belief in God for 21% of Atheists.


If you have read the previous post, "Why You and I can't Understand Atheists", you are aware of the difficulty atheists have with settling in on a truth construct. Since they are free to manufacture their own truth systems, it is not too surprising that some of them settle back into theism while denying that they have done it. Even hardened Atheists might admit at this (data) point that some of their Atheist bretheren are confused. Or they might justify it with a manufactured premise designed to obviate it somehow, at least in their own minds.

In fact only 79% of Atheists don't believe in God. And Atheists are only 1.6% of the total population of the USA. This calculates down to 1.26% of the population that does not believe in God. So 99 out of 100 Americans have managed a transcendent connection, a knowledge of truth existing outside and beyond science. In a society benighted with televised trash (in HD), fetus death on demand, marriage of the formerly peverted, assault on religious artifacts in history books, it seems odd that so few actual Atheists exist. Maybe there are more, they just get caught on the hanging chads of the poll. Yeah, that must be it.
