With Obama now waffling on his campaign promises concerning abortion, embryonic stem cells, Gitmo, and tax cuts - not to mention the coddling of the rich and powerful at the inauguration, it appears that the major change he had in mind was placing himself at the pinnacle of it all. Black commentators are declaring him "President of the World", and a movement is afoot to eliminate term limits for the presidency so that Obama can also be "President for Life". Perhaps we should just eliminate elections altogether.
The one change that is not being publicly noticed is that of ecumenism, otherwise known as the reduction of all religions to the lowest common denominator. Ecumenism asserts equality of mutual respect, and from that, presumes equality of non-validity.
By making certain that all religions are considered equal, the Post-Coherents will show that the religions are all equally non-valid by implication. With religions thus disarmed, secularism and the Obama Ethic will be free to rule the day. Or maybe the lifetime.
The secular ethic is completely voluntary and spontaneous; it is tailored to the moment. And you know that, well, moments change, don't they? And so will the logic as the situation requires.
What Obama has shown from the very day after the election is his willingness to chuck all his campaign rhetoric (promises). This has hardly dampened the enthusiasm his cult has for his "rule". After all, he is black, as is discussed continually on the networks. That is what is important here: his race. Well, half of his race anyway; the white half no longer seems to exist. For this president, his race is the thing that counts, the thing to party about, to gush teary-eyed about on countless TV "news" casts. But as for the small, invested minorities that thought they had been promised this 'n that, well....
And as for politics changing, the deep pockets of the lobbyists are flowing ever more freely with rivers of cash, and the pols are rolling in it like there's no tomorrow. I can see the "change" very clearly now. "Change" means whatever the pols want it to mean: more of the same; only much more.
Somehow I didn't get my invitation.
