”Progressives are the validation of the following quotation "The economic problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living." Please stay home next election.”
Commenter at Rep (D) Keith Ellison’s site.
Counter argument from the same place:
”Actually there are more "workers" than voters. Up to 60% of potential voters sit out national elections in this country. And no one can "vote for a living". The money is in "lobbying for a living". That's where billions and trillions of corporate welfare are generated.
Progressives are the ones AGAINST that.
Corporate Welfare is a fiction that Atheo-Progressives love to promote. Taxing the corporations as punishment is the solution, as they see it. In reality, taxing corporations by any amount whatsoever is the same as taxing the consumer who pays the taxes as price hikes. So cutting the taxes on corporations reduces the cost to the consumer, giving them more cash to put back into the economy. Taxing corporations reduces cash available to the consumer, and raises their prices. The Atheo-Progressive camp doesn’t really care about that. What they care about is the narrative they have running through their heads: corporations = evil, therefore punish them. If possible, eliminate them or give them to the unions while destroying their investors, a la the GM seizure and restructuring.
As for “voting for a living”, that is an apt phrase for the huge welfare entitlement lobby, those who live off the taxpayers while not producing any value for the economy. They are guaranteed to vote to continue to fund their particular entitlement. This constitutes the positive feedback for sustaining the Atheo-Leftists in their positions of power and ability to redistribute wealth.
