What Does It Mean to be a “Man” In the 21st Century?

This is a question for which I will not give my answer, at least not immediately. I am interested in what everyone, men and women, Atheists and non-Atheists alike, think that a “capital M”: “Man” consists of. Kindly don’t use generalized terms such as “decent”, because general terms mean different things to different people, and to some, terms like “decent” even carry baggage that is probably indefinable but negative.

So what specific behaviors define being a “Man” in the 21st Century? How do those relate to your worldview? If it is not behaviors which define a Man, then what is it that does?

I think Jack Nicholson summed it up best in the movie "As Good As It Gets". Reason and accountability.

Hello:

I'll put it simply:

A Man is a person who is capable of understanding his attained moral and ethical responsabilities, and accepting the proactive or counteractive consequences of such, while at the same time, al least, trying to correct the counteractive consequences deemed for those specific actions and trying to convert or redirect such in a more positive, proactive, selfless manner.

Kind Regards.

Dwight Eisenhower wrote his friend Swede Hazlett about what qualities a great man had: "vision, integrity, courage, understanding, the power of articulation, and profundity of character."
