"Using data for the period 1980 to 2009 and controlling for state and year fixed effects, the results of the present study suggest that states with restrictions on the carrying of concealed weapons had higher gun-related murder rates than other states. It was also found that assault weapons bans did not significantly affect murder rates at the state level. These results suggest that restrictive concealed weapons laws may cause an increase in gun-related murders at the state level."The purpose of gun restrictions and bans is not for reduction of crime or murder; it is for the long term protection of totalitarians.

That is exactly right but try and tell that to the younger members of my family. I've taken to being a silent member at the Christmas dinner table lest I carefully explain to a couple of twenty year old liberal arts majors how utterly wrong they are.
The assault weapons ban was always needless legislation as less people are killed with rifles than with hands and feet, and AR-15s make up a tiny fraction of rifle deaths. As you said, however, the gun grabbers are not interested in crime, since the large majority of gun homicides are in urban areas, among gangs, and usually involving drugs.
They're targeting rifles because of their long-range accuracy and reliability. You don't see people fighting wars with handguns and shotguns. Nobody should comply with an unconstitutional law.
Nor with bolt action rifles. Or even with semiautos, except as guerrilla warfare, which will be used at the start of the next American Revolution. The government can't keep drones out of the hands of citizens either.
Yup.
