School forces half-naked, sopping wet student to stand outside, frostbite results

A Minnesota public high school was so committed to obeying its fire drill policy to the exact letter of the law that it forced a female student–dressed only in a swimsuit, and sopping wet–to stand outside in the freezing cold for ten minutes. As a result, she suffered frostbite.

Administrators wouldn’t let the student retrieve her clothes, sit in a car or wait inside another building, according to WCCO.

The trouble began when a small science experiment triggered the fire alarm at Como Park Senior High School in St. Paul, Minnesota. Fourteen-year-old Kayona Hagen-Tietz was swimming in the school pool for health class at the time. Her clothes were in her locker, and a teacher told her that there was no time for her to change. Hagen-Tietz was rushed outside–still wet and dressed in only swimsuit.

It was 5 degrees below zero in St. Paul that day. With the windchill, it was 25 degrees below zero.

Hagen-Tietz asked to wait inside an employee’s car, or at the elementary school across the street. But administrators believed that this would violate official policy, and could get the school in trouble, so they opted to simply let the girl freeze.

This should result in firings, prosecutions, plenty o' jail time.

Substitute teacher charged with indecent exposure

STAMFORD -- A 72-year-old substitute teacher at Westhill High School was put on suicide watch after he was allegedly caught masturbating in a school hallway while looking at school children Wednesday morning shortly after the school day began.

According to police, at about 7:33 a.m. Michael Luecke was spotted lying on the floor by a teacher's assistant who thought he was injured. When she got closer, she realized the man had his hand in his pants and he was fully aroused, police said.

The assistant then yelled at Luecke and notified school officials. Luecke ran off at that point, police said.

School Principal Camille Figluizzi said she called police and turned over video surveillance of the incident.

Figluizzi said class was in session at the time and the students who passed by Luecke's location in the Raynor house of the building did not seem to notice the incident.

Principal charged with attempted child sex to go before judge

A Douglas County elementary school principal arrested and charged with trying to have sex with a child will go before a judge Tuesday afternoon. John McGill was one of 14 people arrested in an undercover investigation conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit. McGill was charged under the Computer Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act of 1999.

McGill is scheduled to appear before a DeKalb County Magistrate Court judge at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday.

McGill, and the others, traveled with the intent to meet a child for sex, the GBI said in a statement.

“The purpose of ‘Operation Broken Heart’ was to arrest persons who communicate with children on-line and then travel to meet them for the purpose of having sex,” the GBI said. “On-line child predators visit chat rooms and websites on the internet, find children, begin conversations with them, introduce sexual content and arrange a meeting with the children for the purpose for having sex.”

McGill is the principal at Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Douglas County. On his bio online, which appears to have been posted for the 2011-2012 school year, McGill said he is married with six children and three grandchildren, and has been a public school administrator for 18 years, including 14 as a principal.

“I hope that you continue to find that Mt. Carmel is a ‘happy place’ where children feel safe, understand the high expectations for student achievement and the love for children that is present each and every day,” he wrote.

He loves children alright.
