A former 40 year Atheist analyzes Atheism, without resorting to theism, deism, or fantasy.

If You Don't Value Truth, Then What DO You Value?

If we say that the sane can be coaxed and persuaded to rationality, and we say that rationality presupposes logic, then what can we say of those who actively reject logic?

Atheists have an obligation to give reasons in the form of logic and evidence for rejecting Theist theories.

I am guessing it will be no more than a week before some random atheist shows up and dutifully parrots that "atheism isn't a belief, it's a lack of belief".
I say 'parrots', because two minutes of honest thought would demonstrate that for the lie that it is. However, as Stan noted, atheism is manifestly NOT about rational thought or honest or, indeed, any virtue, but about emotions.
The idea that lying about what they believe (there is no God) can somehow make them appear to be what they are not, makes them appear even less moral, less intellectual, less trustworthy than ever. It reflects on their self-perception as being so far above the Other that the Other will accept any lie they produce.
Self-anointed elitism is delusional, and is an indication of mental warpage. Its onset is immature youth in the throes of pre-cortical adolescent development. Most humans outgrow this; some do not, and the mental distortion becomes who they are.
An adult who cannot calm him or herself without the need for substance abuse cannot ever function as a decent human being in society.Meditation and quiet time/prayer time is IMO the best forms of comforting and relaxing the mind and body, especially during stressful times.
Having said that,I've noticed there's a few articles on the web by atheists who claim that meditation and prayer is both useless and/or harmful.Hence their continual emotional and juvenile mindsets.
