House Passes ObamaCare Repeal and Planned Parenthood Defunding Bill

From an email from my US Representative:
H.R. 3762: Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act of 2015

Passed 240/181

Republicans are attempting to use the budget reconciliation process to repeal the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) and pause federal funding for Planned Parenthood. Budget reconciliation is the one chance each year that the majority party gets to bypass the Senate filibuster to get a bill to the President’s desk without needing a single vote from the minority party.

The House originally passed this bill on October 23, 2015, sending it to the Senate. To meet the requirements of the budget reconciliation process, so that the bill could not be filibustered, Senate Republicans amended the bill, sending it back to the House. The House then passed the revised bill on January 6, 2016.
As I recall, this is the same method which the Democrats used to pass ObamaCare in the first place. And if I recall correctly, it doesn't require a super-majority in order to pass in the senate. Obama will veto it, of course. But the sense of the nation will be established, and the future of ObamaCare under a Republican president will be sealed.
