Nat Hentoff, the last honest liberal

Hentoff appeared to me to fall somewhere between a Classical Liberal and an anarchist. Poised as a Libertarian-Leftist (how is that possible?) he was generally both to the Right and to the Left of my own positions. Sometimes simultaneously. He will be missed, especially for his intellectual honesty and tenacity, as well as his lack of Marxist hypocrisies (again, how could he be a Leftist?), and for his dedication to veracity. He was billed as the last honest Liberal, but that definition did not conform the the current equation of liberal=Leftist Progressive Totalitarian. He believed in freedom for the common person, rather than using the common person merely as leverage for total power.
