Palestinian Authority Hamas legislative Speaker Ahmad Bahr has updated from 72 to 2.5 million the number of virgins waiting for “martyrs” upon their arrival “in the Garden of Eden.”Emphasis added
In a recent speech translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), Bahr, who is the speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, said the “palace” where the virgins are waiting can be entered “only by prophets, by the righteous, and by martyrs."
Most Muslim preachers and politicians have used the expression "72 virgins” to encourage Arab youth to be ready to die in anti-Israeli terrorist attacks and suicide bombings. Bahr’s new arithmetic reasons, "In the Garden of Eden, there is a palace... with 500 gates. At every gate, there are 5,000 black-eyed virgins. Brothers, 500 multiplied by 5,000 is 2.5 million."
He said in his speech, aired on Hamas television, that men “should be praying for a son who would wage Jihad for the sake of Allah... As long as we continue on this path, nobody on Earth will be able to confront the resistance, or to confront the mujahedeen, those who worship Allah and seek martyrdom."
Bahr also took aim at the American-mediated talks with the PA and Israel. He said, "I say to you, loud and clear: the negotiations, conducted first in the United States, then in Sharm el Sheikh, and wherever, are aimed at uprooting Islam and the resistance here in Palestine, in Gaza.”
Hamas leaders recently have increased terrorist attacks and escalated rhetoric against the diplomatic process.

May I enquire as to what are you implying by this post?
Surely you can pick that up by reading the post, which is purely news reporting.
The post is news reporting, your re-posting it, and adding emphasis, implies an intent to show something.
It seems like you obejct to the concept of martrydom in principle? Which would be strange in light of your willingness to fight Islam.
I always find it amusing that the heroes of atheists are quite often its military men, but they scream bloody murder when religions hold their own military in high esteem. To be honest, I think most of it comes from the terrorfying prospect that religious fighters have no fear.
It seems odd that you find this odd. The ante has been increased for the proposed death by terrorism attacks which is being offered to Muslims. Why would anyone think that to be a good thing for the civilized world?
The principle of fighting can be understood as making them die for their belief (which is their objective), and not to die for our own beliefs or for any other reason involving Islam. This is defensive war at its least irrational. It is a war forced on us, by an ideology obsessed with conquest by force.
I think that religious fighters do have fear, which we are too delicate to invoke: bombs with bacon coated projectiles comes to mind. Bullets with pork coatings; gas made from hog methane. The mere existence of these would deter much terrorism.
The really fearsome martyrs were the kamikazis in WWII who died for pride of martyrdom.
