Newly minted journalist Ronan Farrow was given the Cronkite Award for Excellence in Exploration and Journalism this week, but he seemed incapable of basic fact checking while interviewing Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards. On Friday, Farrow allowed the pro-abortion Richards to get away with this whopper:"We are not a partisan organization. We're just looking to make sure that people in office respect women's health and rights."In reality, 100 percent of Planned Parenthood's political donations in 2014 have, so far, been to Democrats. In 2010 and 2012, that number was 99 percent. This hardly qualifies as "non-partisan." However, nothing about Farrow's questions could be described as journalistic. After praising the liberal group's effectiveness, Farrow wondered,"Why do you think that is? Why have you think you've been so successful in the past?"

Farrow is receiving the “Cronkite Award for Excellence in Exploration and Journalism” at Reach the World’s 14th annual benefit at the Princeton Club. He’s been a journalist for about 72 hours, and he’s getting a “Cronkite Award”?
Let's consider another recipient of a (formerly) prestigious award:
The 2009 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to U.S. President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the award on October 9, 2009, citing Obama's promotion of nuclear nonproliferation and a "new climate" in international relations fostered by Obama, especially in reaching out to the Muslim world.
Let's see: the North Koreans have a nutcase in charge of their nuclear weapons and the Iranians continue their progress toward development of nuclear weapons and Russia is in Crimea and the radical Muslims [NOT ALL MUSLIMS!] throughout the world have given up the jihadist notion of a global Caliphate and are no longer fomenting violence in the name of the peaceful religion of Islam and the attack in Benghazi was merely a peaceful demonstration over an anti-Muslim YouTube video that "got out of hand" and ...
The "money quote" comes from the recipient as he acknowledged the Nobel Peace Prize:
Obama accepted the prize in Oslo on December 10, 2009. In a 36-minute speech, he discussed the tensions between war and peace and the idea of a "just war" saying, "perhaps the most profound issue surrounding my receipt of this prize is the fact that I am the Commander-in-Chief of the military of a nation in the midst of two wars.
OF COURSE that represents his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.
They just don't make prize selection committees like they used to.
I like the part "especially in reaching out to the Muslim world" the best.
With five year's hindsight, all I can do is look over the guttering remains of the Arab Spring and ask "how's that working out for you, Mister President?"
The Nobel committee lost any integrity (and credibility) it had left with me when it gave him that award. I say 'left' because it lost a good deal initially when it gave that same award to Al Gore in 2007.
What a load of crap. I would be angry about it all, except that it's pathetic. The Nobel committee doesn't even realize we've all become aware of the prize's primary status as a political reward.
