Jeb Bush's Two Words Supplant Hemmingway's Six Word Story

Jeb Bush made a statement, then waited. Silence. So he said, "Please clap". This attempt at wit did get some laughs and applause, yet it will likely dog him for a long time. Taken by itself it is just pitiful, the begging of the last of a dynasty who didn't - couldn't - complete the chain.

A commenter on twitter said that Jeb's plea "supplants Hemmingway's Six Word Story". I had not heard of that, so I looked it up. Responding to a challenge to write a complete story in six words, Hemmingway wrote this: "For sale: baby shoes, never worn."
