The Panic

A panic is not an answer: We’re at imminent risk of turning this #metoo moment into a frenzied rush to blame all men
Near the top of her article, Hoff Summers classifies the men involved in the purge so far as powerful men. She ignores the actual discriminatory feature, which is not power; it is that they are all Leftists/Democrats. There are many men in power who do have morals and do not predate on women. It is not so clear for the Leftocrats, who are self-annointed moral superiors who abjure absolute morals in favor of their own brand of morals-du-jour. This failure to identify and illuminate the basic tribal membership of this class of hedonists affects her article all the way through.

Save the outlier cases of the accusers of Trump and Moore, I personally am happy to use the Leftists' own criteria for judging the validity of the charges against the increasing list of pervs: women (Leftist women, that is) are said to never lie, and therefore they MUST be believed. Given that super-power, then, the accusations against Leftist pervs must be true.

That being the case, then according to Leftist mathematics the pervs must not only apologize for being caught, they must be put directly under the bus. All of them. Which now includes Clinton, Gore, and other legacy pervs clear back to Jack Kennedy and Ted Kennedy. They will need a lot of buses.

But what about Trump and Moore? Here Leftist moral decrees do not apply, so women are not considered infallible. In these he-said/she-said cases a rational assessment of the claims, the target, and the source is fully warranted. This is part of a rational legal approach to guilt assignment. So if the claimants wish to pursue the charges, then police should be notified of a possible crime, and the established system of justice should then be fully enabled to determine the validity/invalidity of the claims. Will that happen?

Not likely.

The reason is that the claims are politically motivated and intended to work for the benefit of the Left. Further, the claims can be refuted via the Left's own multicultural stance: it has been Trump's chosen identity and culture to give a kiss to women he meets. And it is, rather was, Moore's chosen identity and culture to show affection for pre-legal females. In neither case is a rape reported or even considered, beyond one sketchy he-said/she-said allegation regarding Moore.

This is NOT the same as the actual rapes by Weinberg and other Leftists, the pedophilia of Weiner (of which he was convicted and is in prison). Nor is it the same as documented sexual abuse by Franken. The actual cases, so far, of provable and admitted sexual predation and abuse are solely those committed by the Left.

So it is difficult to project, as the author does, extending this panic of accusation to all men. That's already been done by the feministas, of course, with zero affect on real men so far. I suspect that most men have been using the Pence Principle for a very long time. Not to would indicate a form of insanity.

Stan, do keep in mind that nearly everyone on the Left is secretly a member of an elite, even if only self-appointed. That is one of the feel-good perks of being a Leftist.

Ergo, when someone else does it, it's pederasty, or pedophilia, or sexual abuse. Horrible, inexcusable and career-ending, even if it is only an accusation.

When we (the Left) do it, it's ignored, excused, played down as an isolated incident or the trigger for a no-holds-barred attack on the victim's character. Smear their character, and you are safe from *anything* they might say.

Such is the power we have given the media.
