A former 40 year Atheist analyzes Atheism, without resorting to theism, deism, or fantasy.

If You Don't Value Truth, Then What DO You Value?
***
If we say that the sane can be coaxed and persuaded to rationality, and we say that rationality presupposes logic, then what can we say of those who actively reject logic?
***
Atheists have an obligation to give reasons in the form of logic and evidence for rejecting Theist theories.

Intercellular Communication
One of the many intricacies of living organisms is the abundance of communication systems which are necessary for organic control and other uses within the organism. These systems have languages, transmitters and receivers, and active agents which carry out the duties which are specified by the particular message.
Now there is a new process found which involves transmitting of organic messages from the outside of the cell membrane. Small pockets in the cell membrane emit particles which contain RNA. These are emitted into the fluids surrounding the cell, and thus are messengers to other cells.
This is still in the research phase, trying to understand the various types of messages, and their possible uses, say for detecting cancers or benign tumors, or many other possible functions.
For me, it's another instance of complexity within life which is highly unlikely to have been created by mutation and put to work by Darwinian selection. Its also a model of science done by objective experimentation: science done right.

Headline of the Day
EXPLOITATION: “Here’s a fun fact: The median salary for a women’s-studies professor is more than a hundred grand a year. The average hourly earnings for a graduate with a women’s-studies degree? Eleven bucks an hour, well less than you’d make working the car wash at Buc-ee’s.”Caution: to get to the quoted text you'll have to read the entire article about Buc-ee's, which actually is kinda cute.
Millennial Atheist Instructs Us On Atheism And Christianity, With A Little Islam Thrown In
"Kissing God's Ass", "Raging Hormones", and "Not Living in the Moment": This Atheist "knows" what Christianity actually is.
And like many millennial Atheists, she redefines Atheism for her own convenience - the convenience of not having to defend her own worldview. And she's clueless about the ramifications of pure Consequentialism and Atheist atrocities of the 20th Century... for her it's religion which is evil. We've all seen this stuff before. Use this video to tune up your own rational responses... or just ignore it.

Richard Carrier's Polyamory and College Students
Popularizer of social-justice atheism can’t believe he’s accused of sexually harassing studentsUnder Atheism, all rules are arbitrary and therefore non-binding. In other words, everyone is Right and Wrong at the same time. Even such paradoxes as that are just fine, when there are no authoritative rules at all including rules for rationality. In Carrier's case, the SJW "always believe the victim" narrative bit him in his polyamorous butt.
Jesus skeptic crucified by atheist community he helped create
"Atheism activist Richard Carrier believes the survivor. He champions an “intersectional” strain of atheism that promotes social justice.
And his reputation now lies in tatters because Facebook misreported where he works.
Carrier is on the receiving end of a growing sexual-harassment inquiry by a national student atheist organization that has featured him as a campus speaker.
Yet he continued speaking to Secular Student Alliance chapters at numerous universities over the past year, even while the national office was “fully aware” that he had harassed students, according to his accuser, who stayed quiet more than a year before going public earlier this month.
As a result, Carrier has been banned from a prominent atheist conference and even from writing on his own blog. He told The College Fix he would commence legal action in the next two weeks to clear his name – but not necessarily against his primary accuser.
‘I’m not even close to being his only victim’
A freelance lecturer, book author and leading scholar behind the “Christ myth” theory that a historical Jesus Christ never existed, Carrier has long argued that atheists should embrace “Atheism+.”
Considered either a branch of or a cancer on the “New Atheism” pioneered by atheist heavyweights including evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins, Atheism+ or “intersectional atheism” put a social-justice spin on the rejection of theism.
When rape accusations against Skeptic magazine editor Michael Shermer arose in 2013, Carrier was among the leading voices saying the alleged victims should be believed.
But Carrier also practices polyamory and has chafed against Secular Student Alliance rules that speakers not date students. Those behaviors appear to be at the heart of allegations against him, only the latest of which he has denied.
In a Facebook post June 15 that was removed right before this story’s publication, the former president of the Arizona State University chapter of the alliance, Amy Frank, said that Carrier “sexually harassed me and touched me a year ago after speaking at ASU.”
She broke her silence after receiving a Facebook notification that Carrier had started working at Camp Quest, an international “summer camp beyond belief” for nontheist children.
“I’m not even close to being his only victim, and there are even more victims of other speakers of the SSA,” Frank wrote, calling abuse “fairly common” at its events. She accused the alliance of “go[ing] out of their way to undermine the reports,” and said she would boycott it until its leadership is “completely dismantled.”
“I’ve held my tongue far too long,” Frank said. “The victims have had enough.”"

Sexual Assualt In Sweden Is SOLVED!
Women will be issued wristbands saying... does it matter what they say? They are stinking wristbands!
Police Launch ‘Don’t Touch Me’ Wristbands to Stop Migrant Sex Attacks in SwedenStupid runs deep in the Swedish Leftists these days. Women can't carry mace or pepper spray, much less any defensive weapons. So they get wrist bands.
Sweden’s police chief unveiled the force’s latest weapon in the fight against sexual assault: wristbands reading “Don’t touch me”.
A recent Swedish press release warns that groping is a crime. In it, the country’s national police chief Dan Eliasson said: “No one should have to accept sexual molestation. So do not grope. And if you are groped, report it to the police.”
Mr. Eliasson mentioned a variety of actions such as “a hand tucked between the legs”, “a hug from behind in the crush at a club or festival”, and “one person holding somebody while another grabs their breasts”, describing them as “situations many young people recognise too well”.
The press release announced that police intend to equip young women with wristbands with the slogan “don’t touch me”. This will happen over the summer, at festivals and other events for young people. “By wearing these wristbands,” Sweden’s police chief said, “young women will be able to make a stand”.
Marilyn Mosby Might Not Be Above The Law
Prosecutors seem to get away with lawlessness themselves these days. Marilyn Mosby rode roughshod over the officers involved in the Freddie Gray death, and made outrageous statements to the black community. The entire episode is ongoing, and has affected law enforcement in many cities outside Baltimore. Cops became afraid of prosecution and prison if something goes wrong with a bust.
Now Mosby has been the recipient of a complaint to the Bar Association regarding her false allegations and persecution of the officers. The official complaint is HERE. According to the complaint, Mosby violated a number of the Maryland Lawyer's Rules of Professional Conduct.
Not the least of her failures was to prosecute without adequate evidence of a crime. Two of the officers, including the driver of the van, have had their cases dismissed. The complaint against Mosby includes this:

Not the least of her failures was to prosecute without adequate evidence of a crime. Two of the officers, including the driver of the van, have had their cases dismissed. The complaint against Mosby includes this:
The case against Officer Goodson is also especially important because it seemed to many quoted observers - and also upon an independent examination - to be the strongest case the prosecutors have against any of the officers. For example, it involves the most serious of all the charges (“depraved indifference”), and apparently the most charges: (1) second-degree depraved-heart murder; (2)involuntary manslaughter; (3) grossly negligent act; (4) assault; (5) manslaughter by motor vehicle;(6) grossly negligent driving; (7) criminally negligent manslaughter; (8) misconduct in office, by corruptly failing to do an act that is required by the duties of his office; and (9) reckless endangerment.Mosby is a terrorist using her power against the police.
Thus their failure to present sufficient evidence to sustain even one of these many charges - and, in the opinion of Judge Williams, to even come close to doing so - shows that the prosecutors should have known that they lacked probable cause for many if not all of the charges, and that the evidence was insufficient to support a conviction on many if not all charges. And, if this is in fact their strongest case, it would follow that they likewise lack probable cause and sufficient evidence to sustain a conviction regarding the other still-to-be-tried (or retried) cases against other officers.
A third reason why the findings regarding Officer Goodson are especially important is that Goodson,as the driver of the van, was the central figure in this matter; the single person around which all of
the other defendants interacted. Thus, in a very real sense, any criminal liability of the other defendants would appear to be derivative from, and/or interconnected with, that of Goodson. In other words, if with regard to Goodson there is no probable cause for most if not all of the charges against him, and if there is insufficient evidence to sustain these charges against him, it would appear even more strongly that the same would apply with greater strength to the other remaining officers.
A final reason why the Goodson decision is so important is that it clearly established - in what would appear to now constitute the “law of the case” with regard to all officers - that several legal theories upon which the prosecutors were heavily relying for their cases against other officers were not valid. For example, the court firmly rejected the suggestion that the mere failure to use seat belts - even if it might constitute a violation of a new rule - would rise to the level of a crime and/or support convictions of crimes such as “misconduct in office.”
