Why We Believed Jackie's Rape Story

Because it rang true for so many of us on the University of Virginia campus.

"This is not to say that it does not matter whether or not Jackie’s story is accurate. There is now a police investigation into the incident. Brothers of Phi Kappa Psi were moved out of their house after students threw bricks through the windows. Dean Nicole Eramo has received death threats. And it is becoming increasingly clear that the story that blew the lid off campus sexual assault has some major, major holes.

Ultimately, though, from where I sit in Charlottesville, to let fact checking define the narrative would be a huge mistake. “These events undoubtedly do occur here,” first-year Maddie Rita told me. “And while this report has clearly had factual flaws as well as rhetorical missteps, there are plenty of other fully corroborated accounts not only at this university, but at every university around the country.”

This can only be described as self-serving bullshit, of the highest order. What is apparent is that they WANT to be considered part of the Victimhood Class. Here's how we know that:

First they are just now getting the police involved. This is an issue with most if not all of the campus "rape" tribunals. Rape is a crime regardless of where on American soil it occurs. Why do they not report it to the police? I suspect that it would deflate the narrative, which demands that one in five women are raped on campus. Reporting every "sexual abuse" to the authorities might exonerate some of the "perps", who now have no civil rights to self-defense on campus. And accurate records of actual convictions would be readily available, rather than "what Biden said", and "what the narrative says".

Second, where is the outrage at the violence against the truly innocent parties in this affair? Bricks through the frat windows; death threats against the dean. Where's the outrage? The outrage is still directed at the weakening of the narrative, which they are scrambling to protect.

Third is the nature of the cautious, self-serving walk back: "it rang true". That is a blatant admission of dishonest intellectual prejudice toward their narrative, a rush to judgment based not in fact, not in any attempt to actually obtain fact, but to pursue the cherished narrative of Victimhood. There is little that is more contemptible than false accusations being taken to heart to further the Social Justice Narrative.

Fourth, consider this statement: "...to let fact checking define the narrative would be a huge mistake." This admission is breathtaking in its unconsciously honest admission of innate moral and intellectual dishonesty. The facts must not define the narrative. Usually they do not admit this.

The Leftist Social Justice Warriors (Messiah/Victim Classes) are without remorse; because they are self-anointed morality despots, they always have clear consciences regardless of their aberrant and egregious behaviors. So it is with clear consciences that they write off their own abuses as necessary to supporting the Narrative. And that is what makes them dangerous.
