Jimmy Carter Banned All Iranians From Entry

Pretty much a ban on Shia government terrorism in the form of hostage taking.

"Fourth, the Secretary of Treasury [State] and the Attorney General will invalidate all visas issued to Iranian citizens for future entry into the United States, effective today. We will not reissue visas, nor will we issue new visas, except for compelling and proven humanitarian reasons or where the national interest of our own country requires. This directive will be interpreted very strictly. "
Remember when FDR incarcerated an entire race of Americans in Japanese interment-camps? If you're a millenial, maybe not. History is not a subject valued in gov't schools.

Both FDR and Carter were "Progressive" Democrats. Nowadays the progressive Democrats get all puffed up at the thought of keeping potential danger away from American citizens.
