It disrespects our culture to be in America and not follow American conventions. And Clemson is mostly an engineering school, where precision and accuracy matter more than culture. Or should, anyway. . . .

This reminds me of the semiconductor plant built near Gallup, New Mexico several decades back. It hired a lot of Indians who had otherwise no job opportunities. Soon though, it happened: one day no one showed up for work. Several days later, they were back. Asked why they didn't come to work, they replied, "everyone knows that there was a rodeo up in Tuba City". The plant didn't last much more than a year, if that.

Addendum, regarding science denialism:
Empirical Science as done by Bacon, Newton, Boyle, Einstein, Feynman, requires falsification capability per Popper. That means that the hypothesis must be testable, and and is re-tested without significant failure, because repeatable failure would falsify the hypothesis.

Anthropogenic Global Warming cannot be tested, cannot be falsified, and cannot qualify as an Empirical science. In fact, it is dependent solely upon the opinions of modellers that they have correctly incorporated all the correct variables in the correct amounts, and that they have used correct temperature data.

But the temperature data being used is extrapolated for vast areas of land (Africa, for example) and ocean (the massive Indian ocean for example). Further the temperature data is "adjusted" before use. The temperature data is also highly suspect due to the use of sensors in the urban heat centers, which are extrapolated to vast areas of open land.

Without unquestionably valid measured data, there is no possibility of a realistic conclusion.

And most siginificantly, CO2 is known NOT to be the primary factor, because water vapor and clouds are. So there is a proposed, unproven, unprovable feedback loop between CO2 and H20 vapor and clouds, and that is claimed to be the theoretical driver.

So we have a) bogus measurements; b) unproven and unprovable hypothetical cause for the questionable measurements; c) non-replicable data and non-falsifiable theory. This then is "science" by Appeal to Authority, and political diktat.

It is not possible to be a science denier when there is no actual replicable, falsifiable science to deny.

It is possible - as we see every day - to have an unscientific pursuit fully weaponized by the Post Truth Leftists for political purposes and social engineering toward known failures of Socialist, elitist hegemony. That is what Anthropogenic Global Warming actually is.

I think the bar fight analogy is apropos here. Once the fists start flying, it doesn't really matter in the larger sense the little differences and whether you thought your friend should have hit on that guy's girl or not, it becomes a binary equation. Hit the guy swinging at you more and harder than he hits you. The statists have weaponized identitarian politics to the point where there are irreconcilable differences between neighbors, family members and people groups. We are now at the level of bar fight politics and somebody is going to hit on the wrong girl or look at someone the wrong way. It's only a matter of time. I don't like it, but it doesn't change the perception of the majority of Americans that a rather large segment wants to strip them of money, rights and influence. Whether true or not, people are past the point of being convinced through facts and it's the awkward moment before the fighting begins but past the point of verbal communication.

To show the wrong identity gets you only charges of "hate" from the "tolerant" identitarians. They cannot tolerate what they hate. So their hate drives the entire western civilization into dis-civil Class War. It's purely driven by their self-righteous indignation, their fear and arrogance, their Marxist education, and their self-promotion as Saviors of the World - i.e., their concept of personal messiahism.

They never seem to attack your principles, except in false, cartoon form. They attack you personally, as a defective person. So they immediately put you into their Class War as the hated Other; the Oppressor Class, the Class which is Deplorable of course, and must be defeated entirely, completely destroyed. It starts with denigration, then to hate crimes, then to attacks on livelihoods and other support systems, and on toward complete destruction without war.

And it is a War. Some call it The Cold Civil War. Whatever it is called it is the war against civilization by the mindless Marxist zombies who slow march through the institutions, and through civilization as a whole, devouring everything of value that they can reach.

Democrats cared exactly nothing about what the non-Democrats thought or believed. If they even thought about it, they ridiculed the Othered Class, and declared them inferior in every way.

Now they are pretty sure that we, the ridiculed Others, should care what they, the totalitarian class, think/feel/say/scream. As for me: I do not in any way, manner or form give a rusty, red, rodent's rectum what they think/feel/say/scream. Actually, the volume at which they perform is very, very satisfying: they set this all up; now they reap the consequences. They deserve the whole magilla, which Trump is serving up daily.
